Titanium Cutting Boards in Canada: Specifications Compared (2026)
Titanium cutting boards are one of the fastest-growing kitchen tools of the past two years, and almost every listing claims the same things: pure titanium, double-sided, dishwasher-safe, knife-friendly. This guide compares the specifications of the titanium boards we stock in Canada for 2026 so you can choose by size, construction and use. We compared listing specifications; we did not test the boards, and claims such as "100% pure titanium" are the manufacturers' own. If you are still deciding whether titanium suits you at all, start with are titanium cutting boards worth it?
Two kinds of titanium board
- All-titanium sheet boards: titanium on both faces. Light, thin, non-porous and fully dishwasher-safe. Hardest on knife edges.
- Dual-surface boards: titanium on one face and a softer material, such as wheat-straw composite, wood fibre or acacia, on the other. Use the titanium side for raw meat and fish and the soft side for everyday vegetables, which is kinder to your knives.
Health Canada recommends one cutting board for produce and a separate one for raw meat, poultry, fish and seafood (Health Canada, produce safety). A set of two or three boards, or a dual-surface board used consistently, makes that easy.

What to check on a listing
- Size. Titanium's light weight tempts makers into small boards. For general prep, look for at least 36 × 25 cm (14 × 10 in); for carving a roast, 41 × 28 cm (16 × 11 in) or larger.
- Material wording. "100% pure titanium" or "commercially pure titanium" is more specific than "titanium alloy" or "food-grade titanium" on its own. Ask the seller if the listing is vague.
- Grip. Thin metal boards can slide. Silicone edges, rubber feet or a damp cloth underneath keep the board still, which is a safety issue as much as a convenience.
- Juice groove. Useful for roasts, tomatoes and watermelon; less important for daily chopping.
Who a titanium board is not for
- Anyone who wants a single board for all cutting with expensive Japanese knives: the hard surface wears fine edges faster. Pair titanium with a wood board, or choose a dual-surface board.
- Cooks who like a heavy, stable board for long sessions of chopping: a thick wooden board stays put better.
Cleaning
All-titanium boards go in the dishwasher. If you sanitize by hand, Health Canada's produce safety guidance suggests a kitchen sanitizer used as directed, or a solution of 5 mL (1 tsp) unscented household bleach in 750 mL (3 cups) of water, followed by a rinse. Check the care notes for dual-surface boards: wood and acacia sides should not be soaked.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best size titanium cutting board?
For most kitchens, 36 × 25 cm (14 × 10 in) to 41 × 28 cm (16 × 11 in). Smaller boards suit garlic, herbs and travel; larger ones suit carving.
Are dual-sided titanium and wheat-straw boards worth it?
They are a practical compromise: a titanium face for raw meat and a softer face that is gentler on knife edges. Use each side for the same job every time to avoid cross-contamination.
Do titanium boards really stay free of knife grooves?
Titanium resists the deep scoring that plastic boards develop, which is why they are easy to keep clean. Expect fine surface marks over time.
Did you test these boards?
No. This guide compares listing specifications; we flag any detail a listing does not state.
